Organisation

There are three distinct but connected phases of school life:

Early Years/Foundation Stage Nursery and Reception classes – (ages 3 to 5)

Key Stage one (KS1) – Years 1 and 2 (ages 5 to 7)

Key Stage 2 (KS2) – Years 3 to 6 (ages 7 to 11)

Each year group has up to 60 children, divided into two mixed ability classes. Our current Year 3 are a ‘bulge’ year group, with 120 children divided into four mixed ability classes.

One teacher has the lead responsibility for the class, and is supported by other teachers and teaching assistants. Classes are often broken into sets for teaching, so by the time the children are in years five and six they are confident at working with a number of adults, a vital skill for secondary school.
