Design Technology at Eliot Bank
The staff and pupils at Eliot Bank love the creativity and opportunities for practical learning that Design Technology brings. As well as being taught subject specific skills and knowledge teachers optimise the opportunity for cross curricular learning by drawing on other subject areas such as maths, science, computing and art. Each unit is built around four key areas: Designing, Making, Evaluating and the development of technical knowledge.
Within each Key stage, multiple opportunities are also provided for children to learn how to cook and to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. As part of this learning, children learn where are how food comes from and begin to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the processes followed to get food to our plates
